Psychological and Emotional Support

The diagnosis of cancer in a child is devastating to the parents and the child, and they need extensive psychological and emotional support throughout treatment and beyond, especially in the first few days and weeks after the diagnosis. Although physicians and nurses play an important role in explaining the nature of the disease, its treatment, and prognosis, our social workers provide psychological and emotional support to the child and the family.  Some families need additional support from a qualified psychologist and the social worker facilitates access to such support.
